History Being Rewritten?
Texas textbooks: Hearings being held to change history textbooks
on foxnews.com:
“Reporting” from Austin, Fox’s Peter Doocy says it’s “kinda scary” if people are going to be teaching about things in history “in a way that’s favorable to their views.”
“Who’s behind this?” host (“news anchor”?) Steve Doocy wants to know; so he asks Jonathan Saenz (of the James Dobson syndicate) who explains that
There’s a group of liberal left-wing activists here in the Austin area that want to drastically change what our students learn about history and really want to re-write history to fit their agenda, and the reality is that the State Board of Education has done a lot of work to correct the mistakes that an unelected group of educators or educrats as we call them made these outrageous changes. Now it’s the State Board of Education’s opportunity to correct these things and thankfully they’ve done a lot of that.
Does sound “kinda scary,” don’t it?
On ABC’s Nightline, Terry Moran didn’t get “reporting” from his boy in Austin, so he resorted to reporting by journalist Dan Harris, who interviewed Donald McLeroy, leader of the Board of Education faction that, according to Saenz, is protecting Texans from the kind of villains who would try to “re-write history to fit their agenda.”

They’ve done their reporting; now you can decide.

The Nightline segment was fair. I wish they’d have pointed out the egregious erasure of Jefferson from the Enlightenment portion of the World History curriculum, but they did cover a lot of the misdeeds of the ideologues.
Thanks again for posting these.
Good post, Tony. Thanks for the videos. (Clicked on the link you left in a comment on TFN’s blog.)
